Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) announced the appointment of former Australian opener Justin Langer as their head coach, succeeding Andy Flower in July 2023, indicating a shift in sporting direction.
However, the decision meant that Gautam Gambhir was no longer part of the franchise and the former Indian international has joined Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as a mentor.
Langer, a legendary figure in Australian cricket, previously served as the coach of the Australian national team. He took over the coaching responsibilities in the aftermath of the infamous 2018 ball-tampering incident during the Cape Town Test against South Africa.
As a player, Langer formed a formidable opening partnership with Matthew Hayden in Test cricket. His coaching tenure with Australia witnessed significant achievements, including a 4–0 Ashes series win against England and Australia's historic T20 World Cup victory in 2021.

Langer's coaching success extends beyond the national team, as he guided the Perth Scorchers to three Big Bash League (BBL) titles.
LSG have also added Sridharan Sriram as the assistant coach for the upcoming IPL season. Known for his expertise as a former Australian cricket spin coach consultant, Sriram brings a wealth of experience to the franchise.
Sriram has an illustrious coaching career, having previously served in key roles for both the Bangladesh and Australian national teams. His coaching prowess was evident during his tenure with the Bangladesh men's national T20 team, where he led the squad to notable victories in the Super-12s stage of the T20 World Cup.

Sriram's contributions to the Australian men's team were equally remarkable, playing a pivotal role in their success at the T20 World Cup and the Ashes series during the 2021-22 season.
This isn't Sriram's first stint in the IPL; he previously worked as an assistant coach specializing in batting and spin bowling for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). His prior experience in the IPL further enhances his credentials as a coach in the T20 format.
Vijay Dahiya, who is a former India batsman and wicketkeeper, is also an assistant coach with the franchise. Meanwhile, Parvin Tambe is a specialist spin bowling consultant.

Former South African speedster Morne Morkel is the fast bowling coach whereas, Morkel's compatriot, Jonty Rhodes is the fielding coach.
MSK Prasad, who has formerly been the Chairman of the selection committee of BCCI is the team's strategic consultant.
The club CEO is Retd. Colonel Vinod Bisht. He is a distinguished Paratrooper with over two decades of service in the Indian Army. An alumnus of the prestigious Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A), Colonel Bisht had been earlier associated with the Delhi IPL franchise since its inception.
The Club chairman is Sanjiv Goenka, the Kolkata-based industrialist who owns several sporting entities in India including Indian Super League (ISL) side Mohun Bagan Super Giants.

From Goenka to Langer anybody on the auction table can place bids for LSG. Colonel Bist might also do the honours as he is the club CEO.
