The 17th edition of the Indian Premier League kicks off on March 22 with reigning champions Chennai Super Kings taking on Royal Challengers Bangalore.

For the upcoming season, BCCI have released the fixtures for the first 21 games. The remaining schedule will be disclosed once the dates for India's general election are announced.

MS Dhoni-led CSK lifted their record fifth IPL title last season beating Gujarat Titans in the final. After the first 16 seasons of the premier domestic T20 competition, CSK and Mumbai Indians have the most number of titles followed by Kolkata Knight Riders, who have bagged two titles. Rajasthan Royals, Sunrisers Hyderabad and now defunct Deccan Chargers have won a title each.

While CSK and MI have won the same number of trophies, the southern franchise have reached the IPL final on the most number of occasions, 10 times, followed by MI who have made it to the final on six occasions.

Who is the number 1 team in IPL?

Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians are the most successful team in the history of the IPL who have accumulated a record 255 points in the last 16 seasons. They have played 228 league games where they have won 127 matches and lost in 100 games.

MI are followed by CSK who have 231 points to their name in 200 league games. It has to be noted that CSK and RR were barred from contesting in the 2016 and 2017 seasons.

Shah Rukh Khan co-owned KKR comes third in the list who have just three points less than CSK and have played 228 games where won 112 times and lost in as many games.
