Sanju Samson played his 50th match as IPL captain in RR's match against GT on Wednesday. Samson has become only the third player among active captains in IPL 2024, to reach the 50-match milestone.
The wicket-keeper batter made his IPL captaincy debut for Rajasthan Royals. He has been the captain of only one team, throughout his IPL career. Having made his captaincy debut in IPL 2021, Sanju led RR to only their second IPL final, a year later in 2022.
The Kerala-born cricketer has found his feet as a captain, courtesy of RR. After RR's match against GT, Sanju has become only the second player to lead RR in 50 or more IPL matches. Samson is just five matches away from matching Shane Warne's tenure as captain for the franchise.
