The 2023 Cricket World Cup saw Australia becoming a record six-times champion of the tournament by defeating India in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

India went unbeaten throughout the World Cup but were defied by the Aussies under the leadership of Pat Cummins in the final.

Batting first, India put on a total of 240 runs on the scoreboard with KL Rahul and Virat Kohli managing to get half-centuries for their side. 

In the second innings, Australia were rocked by the Indian bowlers, reducing their side to 47/3, but then Marnus Labuschagne and Travis Head held their nerves and built an incredible partnership, eventually winning the game for Australia by six wickets. 

Head scored a century while Labuschagne managed to get to the fifties, his first of the tournament under incredible pressure.

When is the next ODI World Cup? Potential start date and details about 2027 edition of the World Cup

With the recent edition of the World Cup already concluded, fans will have to wait until 2027 for the upcoming ODI World Cup. South Africa and Zimbabwe will be the hosts for the upcoming edition.

Excluding the hosts, the top 8 nations according to the ICC ranking on 31st March 2027 will secure direct qualification, while the other nations will have to play regional qualifiers to make it to the final 14 of the tournament. 

The 2027 World Cup is scheduled to be held in October and November with proper dates yet to be announced by the ICC. The 2023 edition of the tournament that started on 5th October 2023 was concluded on 19th November 2023 with Australia as the champions.
