New Zealand are set to tour India for a three-match Test series as a part of the ongoing 2023-25 World Test Championship (WTC) cycle. Rohit Sharma & Co. are set for a stern test after their recent and remarkable win over Bangladesh at home.
The Kiwis beat India in their famous win in the inaugural WTC 2021 final at Lord's. The tour starting October 16, would be New Zealand's second visit to India since the WTC 2021 final. The two nations met for a two-match series as a part of the 2021-23 cycle, with India winning the series by 1-0.

Team India are currently competing for a spot in the WTC 2025 final, and are placed at the top of the rankings, with 74.24 Percentage Points (PCT).
The Blackcaps on the other hand, find themselves at sixth, with 37.50 PCT. A far-fetched dream for the Kiwis could become all the more distant, should India beat them during the upcoming tour.

Have New Zealand won a Test series in the India?
New Zealand have never won a Test series in India so far. The Blackcaps are yet to beat India in a Test series away from home, in nearly 70 years since their first visit to the Asian nation in 1956.
Moreover, the Blackcaps have a forgetful record on Indian pitches anyway. They have claimed only two Test wins in their entirety, in 1969 and 1988.
New Zealand have drawn two-Test series against India in India (1969 and 2003) but are yet to outright beat them in a bilateral tournament in the red-ball format.

New Zealand has not won a single Test series against India in India. Moreover, their last Test win in India versus the Men in Blue came way back in 1988.
Even before the start of the series in October 2024, the visitors have already suffered a major setback in the form of a groin injury to star batter Kane Williamson. The Kiwis have a mammoth task on their hands, should they overcome their abysmal Test record on Indian soil.
