As the cricketing world gears up for the highly anticipated IPL 2024 season, one name has been making waves even before the first ball is bowled – Virat Kohli. The iconic Indian cricketer, known for his prowess on the field and his style off it, recently unveiled a bold new look that has set social media abuzz.
In a viral post shared by his hairstylist, Aalim Hakim, Kohli can be seen sporting a daring hairstyle that has captivated fans and fashion enthusiasts alike. The new look features a faded mohawk with a stylish slit on his eyebrows, adding an edgy flair to his appearance.
Kohli's makeover, reminiscent of a modern mullet with a contemporary twist, reflects his desire to stay ahead of the curve and make a statement both on and off the field.
What is a 'Modern Mullet'? Aalim Hakim explains Virat Kohli's new hairstyle
Explaining the inspiration behind Kohli's new hairstyle, Aalim Hakim told Hindustan Times, “The new hairdo is a modern mullet, which is inspired from 90s mullet when people used to keep longer hair in the back. Kohli’s new look is not exactly mullet, but with a modern touch to it.
"He is a good looking guy, whatever he keeps looks nice on him. Before the IPL, I wanted him to look a little edgy and fresh. That is why I wanted his hair to go short from the side and keep the sides very edgy. I did a little cut on the eyebrow for the same. HIs on field image is very aggressive, and that is what we kept in mind while crafting this new look. He likes a little softness in his hair, and that one can spot in his hair texture. He likes his hair easy and not set”.
For Kohli, this makeover marks more than just a change in appearance – it signifies his return to competitive cricket after a brief hiatus. Having withdrawn from India's Test series against England earlier this year due to the birth of his second child, Akaay, Kohli is eager to make a triumphant comeback on the cricketing stage.
After making only two appearances for India in their series against Afghanistan in January, Kohli is determined to showcase his formidable skills and secure a spot in the Indian squad for the upcoming 2024 T20 World Cup, scheduled to commence in June.
With a stellar track record in the IPL, including a remarkable performance in the 2023 season where he amassed 639 runs in 14 appearances for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Kohli is poised to be the keystone in the batting line-up as RCB aim to end their 17-year-long trophy drought.
