The Indian batter put on a show at the recent ODI World Cup 2023. The 35-year-old finished the quadrennial event as the highest run-getter, despite missing out on the silverware in the final.

The current-holder of the award, Virat Kohli, has won the most ICC ODI Cricketer of the year awards. The Delhi-born batter has won the award on four occasions, one more than the next best on the list, AB De Villiers.
Kohli last won the award in 2018, five years before he has now got his hands on, once again. Virat Kohli was conferred with the accolade in 2012, 2017, 2018, and 2023.
South African legend, AB De Villiers has won the award on three occasions, and stands third on the list. The former Protean skipper got himself the award in 2010, 2014, and 2015.
