Before the start of the series, BCCI had announced that Kohli had spoken to captain Rohit Sharma and the coaching staff after which his leave was granted citing personal reasons.

What did AB de Villiers say about Virat Kohli?

Speaking on his YouTube channel, De Villiers said,

I did text him, I did hear from him, I cannot give you too much information. All I know is that he’s fine and spending a bit of time with his family that’s the reason for missing the first few Test matches. I’m not gonna confirm anything else, unfortunately. But I would love to see him back, I cannot wait to see him back whichever form or way. But he’s fine, he’s happy.

When was Virat Kohli's first child born?

Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma gave birth to their first child in January 2021. Kohli had missed the last three Test matches of the four-match series against Australia at that time. After losing the first Test match in a humiliating manner in which Kohli was a part of, the Men in Blue came back strongly to clinch the series 2-1 in the end.

What next for Virat Kohli?

The veteran Indian star is expected to return to the Indian squad ahead of the third Test match against England.
