Joe Root

Joe Root scored his 31st Test hundred against India on Day 1 of the fourth Test at the JSCA International Stadium in Ranchi.

The England star has been in patchy form on the tour, but stepped up to rescue his side which was struggling at 112/5 in the morning session, taking them to 302/7 by the close of play on the first day.

He moved level with Kane Williamson with the knock. Among the Fab Four, only Steve Smith remains ahead of Root in Test centuries as the Australian boasts of 32 hundreds in his career.

Kohli has seen a dip in form in the recent past in Test cricket as the batsman has scored only two centuries in his last 10 matches in red-ball cricket. The India international, who took a break for the first two Tests against England due to personal reasons, will get an opportunity to catch up with the rest of his peers if he makes himself available for the rest of the three Test matches.

Is Virat Kohli available for the next three Tests against England?

India head coach, Rahul Dravid, revealed that the team management will get in touch with Kohli, but also added that the selectors were best qualified to give the best answer about the 35-year-old's availability.

"I think it's best to ask the selectors," he said. "I am sure they are the best people to answer ahead of the team selection for the next three Tests. We will get to that. I am sure there will be selection over the next few days. We will connect with him and find out."
