Virat Kohli became the sixth Indian batsman in history to score 8500 or more runs in Test matches on Thursday against West Indies.

The former Indian skipper reached the milestone when completed 21 runs in the innings. He eventually remained unbeaten at 36 playing 96 deliveries at the end of the day's play.

Kohli also went past Virender Sehwag's tally of 8503 runs and is now the fifth-highest Indian runscorer in the longest format.

Which Indians have scored more than 8500 runs in Tests?

The all-time highest Indian runscorer in Test matches is legendary Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar. He is also the all-time highest runscorer in world cricket.

Tendulkar is followed by Rahul Dravid who incidentally is the head coach of the current Indian cricket team.

Sunil Gavaskar comes third on this list with 10,122 runs. He is also the first man on the planet to score 10,000 runs in Test cricket and was the highest runscorer in the world until Australian batting great Allan Border went past his tally.
