Ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup in June, host nation USA are playing against Bangladesh in a three-match series. In the first T20I of the series, USA have managed to grab a stunning victory against the Bangladeshis by a margin of five wickets.

This victory is sure to give the USA team a huge boost as the World Cup arrives in a few days. Cory Anderson and Harmeet Singh’s brilliant 62-run partnership for the sixth wicket helped the home side chase down the target of 154 runs set by the visiting team with three deliveries remaining. 

Is this USA's first win over a ICC full member?

It is not the first instance though when USA have beaten an ICC full member nation.

USA had beaten Ireland in a T20I in December 21. Playing in Florida, the hosts put up 188/6 on the board before restricting the Irish to 162/6 in their 20 overs.

What is the difference between an ICC Full member nation and Associates?

Full Member Nations

Full members of the ICC are governing bodies or nations or geographical areas of cricket recognized by the ICC. The representative nations from these areas are qualified to play official Test matches. There are a total of 12 Full members in the ICC

Associate Members 

Associate members of the ICC are governing bodies or nations or geographical areas of cricket that are also recognized by the ICC, where cricket is firmly established, but do not qualify as full members. These nations do not play Test cricket. There are a total of 94 associate members in the ICC.

USA are currently an associate member of the ICC but have been granted the June 6, ODI status and can conduct or visit nations for ODI tours and are eligible to participate in the World Cup as well. 

What is USA's schedule for ICC T20 World Cup?

USA will be playing the opening game of the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup against the Canadian cricket team. The match is scheduled to be played at the Grand Prairie Stadium on June 2, 6:00 AM IST.
