After spending most of his life in India, the 30-year-old batter moved to USA in 2021 and is now set to represent the United States at the 2024 T20 World Cup.

The USA have qualified for the upcoming ICC event as hosts, and are paired with India and Pakistan in Group A. Unmukt Chand could face India in a few months, at the T20 World Cup. The two teams are scheduled to lock horns at Eisenhower Park in New York on June 12, 2024.

How can Unmukt Chand qualify to play cricket for the USA?

Unmukt Chand retired from India Cricket in 2021. The 30-year-old decided after multiple attempts at breaking through to the highest level. Due to his retirement, Chand had also made himself eligible to play in the domestic T20 Leagues overseas, something that BCCI does not allow their active cricketers to do.

Speaking with Cricbuzz, Chand revealed how playing against India was his main goal since he retired from Indian Cricket and the BCCI.

He said,

Something which would be very strange (laughs), but I think since I've retired from India, my next goal was always to sort of play against India, and not in any bad blood but keen to test myself out against the best team in the world, Chand explained to Cricbuzz.
