'They saved India vs Australia Chennai pitch for Pakistan' - Mohammed Hafeez claims ICC and BCCI are deliberately favouring Afghan spinners image

After what seemed like a steady start, Pakistan have fallen off the cliff in the last two games. Ahead of the next game against Afghanistan, former Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Hafeez slammed ICC and BCCI and claimed there is a deliberate plan to favour Pakistan's opponents.

Babar Azam & Co. started their World Cup 2023 journey in emphatic fashion with wins against Netherlands and Sri Lanka. However, the Men in Green have failed to deliver against the big boys so far at the World Cup.

Pakistan were schooled by arch-rivals India in Ahmedabad, suffering an all-out for 191. Indians chased the target in under 31 overs.

Pakistan then fell prey to Australia who outclassed them in Bangalore as they recorded a 62-run victory.

Pakistan find themselves fifth on the points table and are set to take on Afghanistan on Monday in Chennai where India had taken on Australia on October 8. Incidentally, the same strip of pitch that was used for that game will be used on Monday as well.

What did Hafeez say about the pitch in Chennai?

Former Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Hafeez slammed the ICC and BCCI ahead of Pakistan vs Afghanistan. He claimed that the pitch used for the match between India and Australia has been saved for Pakistan's clash against Afghanistan.

The 43-year-old slammed the BCCI and ICC for scheduling the venues of matches favoured to the opponents of Pakistan. He believes that the very same Chennai pitch (historically favouring spinners) which helped Ravindra Jadeja, R Ashwin and Kuldeep Yadav spin a web around the Aussies, has been deliberately used for this match to favour Afghan spinners.

India spin trio had pummelled the Aussie middle-order into submission that day. And Hafeez believes that Afghan spinners are being given a deliberate advantage against Pakistan who have struggled to play spin in this tournament by the organisers.

"The pitch used for India and Australia has been used today too. The match is coming soon, you will realise with time. The pitch will be used only for that one occasion, and not before that", interrogated Hafeez.

When is Pakistan's match against Afghanistan?

Pakistan will play Afghanistan in their next match of the 2023 Cricket World Cup. The match is scheduled for Monday, 23 October at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
