However, since his emergence on the international scene as India U19 captain, Kohli has garnered a reputation for being hot-headed and fiery. While this has been tempered in the later stages of his career, he does retain some of that intensely competitive nature, which showed up earlier this year.

In the 2023 IPL, Kohli was involved in an on-field argument with Lucknow Super Giants' Naveen-ul-Haq during a match between LSG and Kohli's Royal Challengers Bangalore. The incident drew a lot of attention, particularly as it continued after the end of the match, and saw LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir get involved.

Imam-ul-Haq reveals Salman Agha's cheeky message to India star Virat Kohli

On Friday, the latest episode of the Honest Hour podcast was released, featuring Pakistan opener Imam-ul-Haq. The episode had been recorded prior to the World Cup, but Imam had a funny incident to narrate regarding Pakistan all-rounder Salman Agha, and Kohli. He said,

If you remember, during the IPL, Virat Kohli got in a fight with an Afghanistan bowler (Naveen). It was a big fight, it continued after the match and Gautam Gambhir also got involved. That had gone viral, and Virat was very angry then.

Just after that incident Salman Ali Agha messaged Kohli on Instagram, saying "Kohli bhai or bacche (I don't remember which one), take it easy, what happened." So Shadab [Khan] was telling Kohli this [during the Asia Cup], and he said "Wait, I'll also reply..." (laughs).

Kohli and Naveen finally settled their argument in public by sharing a joke and a handshake when India took on Afghanistan in the 2023 World Cup in Delhi, Kohli's home city.
