Rohit Sharma has excused him from the white-ball format for India's trip to South Africa. However, he has been included in the Test squad.
There was intense speculations over whether Rohit would continue playing the shorter format of the game as he had reportedly informed being fine with him being dropped from T20s after last year's World Cup.
However, things could potentially change in the run up to the T20 World Cup in 2024.
Will Rohit Sharma lead India in the T20 World Cup?
According to Jagran News, Rohit will be the captain in T20 World Cup. This was discussed in the BCCI meeting held in Delhi on Thursday in the presence of the five selectors, head coach Rahul Dravid and three BCCI officials.
It is being reported that Rohit had requested that a decision on his captaincy for the T20 World Cup should be taken right there. BCCI may thus hand over the reigns for the T20 World Cup 2024 to Rohit.
