As the T20I World Cup 2024 approaches, Rinku was selected by the BCCI for India's series against Afghanistan at home. Rinku has been India's first-choice for the finisher role in the T20I format. Rinku's heroics in IPL 2023 have led to his emergence in the national colours in a short span of time.
Rinku remained unbeaten in the first T20I against Afghanistan. The Uttar Pradesh-born cricketer scored a quickfire 16 off just nine deliveries in Mohali. What did Rinku Singh say about MS Dhoni?
In the post-match interview, Rinku Singh sang plaudits of Indian legendary cricketer and former finisher, MS Dhoni. Dhoni has been an inspiration to many of the new-age youngsters, and Rinku just happens to be one of them. After the victory against Afghanistan, Rinku credited MS Dhoni for his composure to finish the innings.
In the interview, Rinku also expressed his liking towards the role of batting at number 6. He revealed that he had a word about the role and responsibilities of a finisher with former cricketer MS Dhoni in the recent times.
I learnt a lot from Dhoni bhaiya. He told me how to be calm & cool when you are finishing games, Rinku Singh stated in the post-match interview.

Rinku Singh made his T20 debut against Ireland in August 2023. Since then, the 26-year-old has played 13 matches. Rinku has assumed responsibilities in a flawless manner. He has scored over 250 runs, in just nine appearances. He has tonked the ball at a strike-rate of 180 - exactly something that is expected out of him.
