In the first of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 playoffs, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will be taking on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Qualifier 1 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday evening.

SRH, who have managed to qualify for the playoffs after four seasons, and will be in the hunt for their first title in 2016 under the leadership of Pat Cummins. 

The team was founded in December 2012 after BCCI terminated the contract of previous Hyderabad-based franchise Deccan Chargers.

When it comes to the Eliminator phase of the tournament, SRH have won twice and lost three times. The last they played in the Eliminators was in 2020, wherein they beat the Royal Challengers Bengaluru by six wickets.

How have SRH performed in IPL Finals?

SRH have managed to make it to the IPL finals twice, in 2016 and in 2018. In 2016, SRH were crowned as the champions by beating RCB by the slightest of margins. In 2018, SRH faced the then two-time champions, Chennai Super Kings (CSK). 

Faf du Plessis' brilliant knock of 86 runs lifted CSK as the men in yellow beat the SRH by 8 wickets to lift their third title.
