Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shivam Dube are reportedly on the verge of earning BCCI central contracts after their outstanding performances in 2023 and their crucial role in India's gold medal-winning campaign at the 2023 Asian Games.

Both players are expected to play significant roles in the upcoming 2024 T20 World Cup which has led the BCCI to offer them central contracts, according to Times of India.

Jaiswal made his international debut during the 2023 West Indies tour, following a remarkable 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Since then, he has solidified his place in the T20I and Test formats, consistently contributing to the team.

What did the BCCI say?

"The selectors and the team management want him to bowl more and more, as that adds immense value to Dube as a player. This is why he is bowling a fair bit during this series. If he can chip in with a few overs with the ball, he can cement his place in the side for the T20 World Cup in the West Indies and USA. This is crucial because he is the ideal backup to the injury-prone Hardik Pandya," a reliable source in the BCCI told TOI.

Dube, having faced initial challenges in his international career, has made a strong comeback, particularly highlighted by consecutive fifties in the ongoing T20I series against Afghanistan.

The team management and selectors emphasize Dube's bowling, considering it adds substantial value to his overall performance. His bowling efforts in the T20I series, including two wickets against Afghanistan, demonstrate his versatility.

The BCCI recognizes Dube as the ideal backup to the injury-prone Hardik Pandya, and his ability to contribute with both bat and ball enhances his chances of securing a spot in the side for the T20 World Cup in the West Indies and USA.
