India and Australia are currently on the third day of their World Test Championship (WTC) Final at The Oval in England, London, with the Aussies batting in their second innings.

In their first innings, Australia put up a total of 469 courtesy of centuries from Travis Head and Steve Smith. Their bowling attack of Scott Boland and Pat Cummins made quick work of India's openers to end the second day with the Indians only putting up 151 runs for five wickets.

However, knocks from Ajinkya Rahane and Shardul Thakur helped India put up a total of 296 runs in the first innings to give them a foot in the door. Thakur was the perfect foil for Rahane and after the senior batsman was dismissed he continued going at the Australian bowling lineup to reduce his side's deficit.

Shardul Thakur is third visiting batsman to score three consecutive 50s at The Oval

Thakur's knock of 51 runs in 109 meant that he is only the third-ever visiting batsman along with batting legends Don Bradman and Allan Border to score three consecutive half-centuries at The Oval.

It also meant that Thakur has scored a half-century whenever he has played in a Test match on the ground. Having helped his side with the bat, he will now hope to help take some wickets and rock Australia's batting lineup.
