India and England are currently at a stalemate in the five-match Test series. After a disappointing defeat in Hyderabad, Team India fought back with a valiant effort in Vizag. Rohit Sharma & Co. recorded a resounding 106-run victory in the 2nd Test to get level with England.

Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jasprit Bumrah, and Shubman Gill sailed the host's ship to safety. Jaiswal scored a magnificent double-century in the first innings, while Gill stepped up with a century in the second. Jasprit Bumrah was ever-present in the wickets for India, bagging nine wickets across two innings.

As we move onto the third Test of the series, the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium is set to undergo a paradigm shift. The venue in Rajkot could be renamed in the coming days, right before the scheduled match between India and England.

Who is Niranjan Shah?

Niranjan Shah is a former first-class cricketer and the honorary secretary of the Saurashtra Cricket Association. He has remained on the post ever since taking over the baton in 1972. 79-year-old Shah is also the chairman of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) Board and a member of the BCCI Disciplinary Committee.

With a wealth of managerial experience under his belt, Shah is set to be honoured with the stadium being named after him. Shah represented Saurashtra in 12 First Class games in a career spanning over 10 seasons.

In the past, Shah was conferred as the honorary secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on not one, but four occasions.

The veteran has also served as the vice-president of the BCCI from the West Zone, and vice-chairman of the Indian Premier League (IPL). His son, Jaydev Shah, is the current president of the SCA.
