Why is Sarfaraz Khan not in Mumbai's Ranji Trophy squad?

The middle-order batter was not named in the squad as he is reportedly set to retain his spot in the Indian squad for the three-match New Zealand Test series starting October 16 in Bengaluru.

He impressed selectors during the limited opportunities he received at international Test level including earlier this year against England where he scored 200 runs including three fifties in five innings.
