India and Sri Lanka are set for an exciting three-match ODI and T20I series starting July 27 in Sri Lanka. Both teams will be present with new coaches at the helm. India will be led by the newly appointed Gautam Gambhir, while Sanath Jayasuriya will be taking over as the interim coach of the Lankan Lions.

The two stalwarts of Indian cricket, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be present for the ODIs with the former leading as captain. Suryakumar Yadav will be leading the charge in T20Is going forward with Shubhman Gill announced as his deputy.

Jayasuriya feels the absence of three senior players from the T20I side will play in the favour of the home side which they should be taking advantage of. The former Lankan batter has been announced as Sri Lanka’s interim manager until their series against England in August.

Sanath Jayasuriya on the absence of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli

Jayasuriya recently revealed his thoughts to the Hindustan Times, about the absence of three important players from the Indian T20I squad. He feels that their absence would be a big loss for tem India and Sri Lanka should be able to take advantage of their loss.

Jayasuriya also praised Rohit and Virat stating them as the two best players in the world along with Jadeja.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are the best players in the world. Looking at their talent and the kind of cricket they have played we all know where they belong, along with Jadeja. Their absence will be a loss to the Indian team and we have to take maximum advantage out of that.
