Saeed Ajmal, the former Pakistani off-spinner, has made a strong call for India and Pakistan to resume bilateral cricket matches. Ajmal, speaking at the GloFans High School Cricket Cup launch in Sharjah and Ajman, believes it is important for the two cricketing giants to play against each other in their respective countries.
His comments come at a time when the cricketing ties between the two nations have been limited to multi-nation events due to strained relations.

Saeed Ajmal urges India and Pakistan to resume bilateral cricket
Saeed Ajmal has urged that India and Pakistan should play cricket matches in each other's countries. He highlighted the deep connection and love between the two nations that cricketing ties should reflect.
“Even if the India versus Pakistan match happens on the moon, it will be huge. There is a lot of love between India and Pakistan and we must go to each other's countries,” he said.
Since 2007, India and Pakistan have not played a Test series against each other. The last bilateral series in India was in 2012/13, while India last visited Pakistan in 2008 for the Asia Cup.
The two teams now only face each other in international tournaments, such as the ICC World Cups, due to the ongoing political and diplomatic tensions. Ajmal also spoke about the Test cricket.

He stated, “There is a need to promote long format (Test) cricket. The ones who play the longest format can play any other format.”
In addition, Ajmal praised several current players, including Virat Kohli, Joe Root, Babar Azam, and Rohit Sharma. He also lauded Jasprit Bumrah, the Indian pacer, for his intelligence and skill, particularly noting his performance in the 2024 T20 World Cup.
