India's assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate has revealed the real reasons behind India's struggles against spin against Sri Lanka. The newly-appointed member of Gautam Gambhir's think-tank was recently called up for an exclusive interview by media outlet TalkSport.

The Dutch coach emphasised his plans for India's ability to play spin after being run over by the Lankan spinners in the recent ODI series. India lost 27 out of a possible 30 wickets to spinners in the recent three-match ODI series.

Ten Doeschate has stressed the historical fact of India being a spin-preferring country in terms of batting. The Indian pitches are favoured to spin over pace, and the players struggling to play against the turners are of huge concern to the 44-year-old.

What did Ryan Ten Doeschate say about India's struggles against spin in Sri Lanka series?

India's assistant coach, Ryan Ten Doeschate spoke about how the focus in the Indian cricket ecosystem has changed to performing in SENA countries, and that the batters have struggled to play spin inside the subcontinent.

India lost 27 wickets to spin in the recent ODI series against Sri Lanka, and scripted unwanted historical records in the process. The focus, as per the Dutch tactician, is to make Indians the best players of spin, yet again.

One of the challenges I wasn't expecting and I kind of overlooked is the playing of spin by Indian batters. We got undone in Sri Lanka, ten Doeschate told TalkSport Cricket.

The Indian mindset has become so driven to do well overseas. Focus is moved to doing well in Australia and England, and we have let playing spin, something that has always been the strength, fall back a little bit, Ten Doeschate analysed.

We want to get into a position where Indians are the best players of spin, again, ten Do added.
