How many times have RR won the IPL? Rajasthan Royals team history, list of seasons, best players image

The Rajasthan Royals will forever have their name etched in history as the first champions of the Indian Premier League back in 2008.

It has not always been plain sailing for the one of the founding members of the competition since then, though.

The Royals, who hammered Sunrisers Hyderabad by 72 runs in their IPL 2023 opener, will be hoping this is the year more glory is finally on the cards.

How many IPL titles have the Rajasthan Royals won?

The late, great Shane Warne was captain when the Royals won their only IPL title to date 15 years ago.

Yusuf Pathan starred with bat and ball, taking 3/22 to restrict the Chennai Super Kings to 163/5 and scoring 56 as the Royals chased down the total successfully.

Last season was the closest the Royals have come to adding to their trophy cabinet, but they were convincingly beaten by seven wickets by new franchise the Gujarat Titans in the final.

Rajasthan Royals IPL history

After winning the first IPL, the Royals went through a barren period before making the playoffs in 2013 and 2015.

The Royals were banned from participating for two years in 2016 and 2017, before reaching the playoffs upon their resumption in 2018.

They then returned to the final a year ago but fell at the last to the Titans.
