Rohit Sharma led India to their eighth Asia Cup title after the Men in Blue beat Sri Lanka by 10 wickets in the final of the Asia Cup 2023 in Colombo.
This was Sharma's second major international trophy win and incidentally, both titles are Asia Cup. Earlier in 2018, in the absence of Virat Kohli, Sharma led India to an Asia Cup triumph in 2018.

Sharma's track record as a captain in domestic cricket has been second to none as he became the first captain to win five IPL titles, a record which legendary Indian skipper MS Dhoni recently matches by winning the fifth IPL title with Chennai Super Kings this year.
Compared to Sharma, Kohli's track record as a captain in terms of winning trophies is abysmal. Kohli, who led Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL from 2013 to 2021, failed to win the trophy even once.
