India have had two of the best captains in World Cricket in the recent past, in Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. A luxury, second to none. The Indian Cricket Team has been lucky to have had a smooth transition between captaincy changes. The baton was passed on from MS Dhoni to Virat Kohli, and now to Rohit Sharma, and the transition seemed flawless.

The Indian team is currently hosting England for a five-match Test series at home. The series is a part of the World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle. However, the Indians have found themselves in unwanted scenarios in the inaugural Test match in Hyderabad.

Rohit Sharma took over the Test captaincy from Virat Kohli in 2022. The transition has been smooth, however, India have failed to win the World Test Championship (2023). India lost the WTC 2023 final to Australia.

Ever wondered who is the better captain at home in the red-ball format? Here is the home captaincy record of both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in Tests.
