Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma opened the game for the Indians after Pakistan decided to bowl first after winning the toss. Shaheen Afridi opened the bowling for the men in green under the overcast conditions against the Indian veterans.

After negotiating a few balls successfully, the Hitman couldn’t hold back and decided to take on the Pakistani pacer head on. Lifting a good length ball, Rohit hit Afridi out of the park, scoring six runs for himself as well as the team.

Rohit becomes the first player to score a first-over six against Afridi

With that six against Afridi, Rohit became the first man to score a six against Afridi in the very first over in T20Is and ODIs. The pacer had never been hit for six in his first over before he came face to face against the hitman.

Just a couple of overs later though, Afridi got his revenge as he dismissed Rohit with Haris Rauf taking the catch near the boundary as he attempted to clear the ropes once again.

Despite the pedigree in T20s that Rohit possesses, he has a very underwhelming record against arch-rivals, Pakistan. He was dismissed after scoring just 13 runs in 11 balls in the clash against the men in green in New York.
