After the disappointment of the 2023 ODI World Cup at home, India have turned their attention towards the 2024 T20 World Cup next year.
Rohit Sharma & Co. went ten matches unbeaten enroute the final of the ODI World Cup at home. However, the Men in Blue could not apply the finishing touches to what would have been the perfect end to a memorable campaign. India lost to Australia in the World Cup 2023 final in Ahmedabad.
Amidst the scrutiny, there have already been murmurs among Indian cricket's echelons that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli might not be part of the team next year in the game's shortest format. In fact, both Kohli and Rohit have not played T20Is for India for over a year.
BCCI Secretary Jay Shah was asked questions while being at the Women's Premier League Auction on Saturday. Here is what Jay Shah said about Rohit Sharma's role for the T20I World Cup 2024.

Jay Shah stated that the T20I World Cup is way ahead of time yet. The ICC tournament will start in June. Shah added that Team India will play the IPL and a bilateral series against Afghanistan before the World Cup. He ensured the media that a 'good decision' will be taken for the T20I World Cup.
The World Cup is starting in June, we have the IPL before that and the series against Afghanistan (in January). We will take a good decision, BCCI secretary Jay Shah addressed the media at the WPL 2024 Auction.

Pandya is currently sidelined from sporting action after suffering an ankle injury. Jay Shah updated that the all-rounder is close to marking his return to the team.
We are monitoring him on a day-to-day basis. He is at the NCA and working very hard. He could be fit before the Afghanistan series also, updated Shah.
