As the IPL 2024 enters the business end, the focus now shifts to the upcoming T20I World Cup 2024. India would aim to end their decade-long trophy-draught in ICC tournaments, when they take the cricket pitches of the USA and West Indies, in June 2024. 

Indian Skipper, Rohit Sharma is set to travel to the United States, after being eliminated from the IPL 2024. Mumbai Indians finished at the bottom of the table.

When is Rohit Sharma leaving for T20 World Cup 2024?

Rohit Sharma was one of those players, who have failed to cut into the knockout rounds of IPL 2024. The Indian skipper, and other players from the national squad who will not feature in the IPL playoffs, will leave the country on May 21, 2024. 

The Indian skipper will travel alongside head coach, Rahul Dravid and the support staff of the Indian team. The BCCI will not waste any time in getting to the United States, to start the preparation for the upcoming ICC tournament.

Team India will head out for the T20I World Cup in two batches. The second lot would be the players who would feature in the IPL 2024 playoffs. They will be heading to the USA on May 27, 2024 - only a day after the IPL final takes place on May 26.

When will India play their first match in ICC T20I World Cup 2024?

India are scheduled to play their tournament opener against Ireland on June 05, 2024. The tournament will kick off on June 02, with Team India taking the field on the fourth day of the competition. 

India are placed alongside arch-rivals Pakistan, the hosts USA, Ireland, and Canada in Group A. India's big-ticket encounter against Pakistan will take place on June 09, in New York City.
