Rohit Sharma has been a fine leader in Tests after former captain Virat Kohli resigned stepped down form the role following India's 2-1 loss to South Africa in South Africa.

How has Rohit Sharma fared as captain in Test cricket?
Rohit's first Test match as the skipper of the Indian team came against their southern neighbours Sri Lanka - who had toured to India for a three-match ODI series and two-match Test series - on March 4, 2022.
India won that Test in emphatic fashion by an innings and 222 runs and followed it up by another victory by a huge margin as India won the second Test by 238 runs. Rohit's reign as India's Test captain couldn't have begun in a better way.
He recenttly led the Indian side against South Africa in a two-match Test series. In the first Test, India succumbed to a humiliating innings defeat, losing by an innings and 32 runs, the first innings defeat under Rohit's tenure. They made a great comeback and won the second Test by seven wickets in Cape Town.

Rohit Sharma's captaincy record in away Tests
Under Rohit, India have played just five Tests away from home.
The first time Rohit led India in a Test outside India was the World Test Championship (WTC) Final against Australia in June 2023, which took place at the Kennington Oval in London, UK. India were handed a thrashing as the Aussies won by 209 runs.
Then, he led India in the two-match Test series on the tour of West Indies, winning the first Test at Windsor Park by an innings and 141 runs. He scored a century in the first innings in that Test.
The second Test, which took place at Queen's Park Oval, ended in a draw.
The Test series against South Africa was the first time Rohit will be leading the Indian Test team on a tour to one of the SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand, Australia) countries.
India lost the first Test against South Africa by an innings and 32 runs, with the Proteas gaining an unassailable 1-0 lead in the two-match series. However, India ended the tour on a high as they registered a comfortable seven-wicket win at Newlands.
