Among other things, Rohit discussed his career goals, as well as the players who influenced him. He was asked about his favourite players to bat with, and answered quickly.
Host: Who’s the one you like batting with, yeah. (Let's ask you not an Indian player because that’ll cause fan wars.)
Rohit: I loved batting with Adam Gilchrist. Okay. I loved every bit of it. And to be honest, Andrew Symonds as well, who’s passed away last year. But I got to learn a lot as a young rookie cricketer, yeah. At that point I was 20 years old and to learn from these greats, was superb. Teaches you [so much].
Rohit played alongside Gilchrist and Symonds during his time at Deccan Chargers in the IPL from 2008-2010. Both players were part of Australia's 'Golden Generation' that won consecutive World Cups in 2003 and 2007.
Symonds passed away in a road accident in May 2022. Gilchrist is retired, but regularly appears on the Club Prairie Fire podcast alongside former England skipper Michael Vaughan.
