Rinku Singh has been out of form in international cricket, after an under-colour Indian Premier League 2024. The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batter even missed out on the 15-man squad for the T20 World Cup 2024. He was only selected as a part of the reserve team - a team that accompanied the main squad, as replacements in case of injuries or emergencies.

Singh, as per his 2023 form, would have been one of the first names on the team sheet in India's T20I setup. However, the lack of opportunities with KKR in IPL 2024 has de-railed his international career, to some extent at the least.

After the World Cup, Rinku was selected for India's squad for the subsequent Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka T20I series. However, the Uttar Pradesh-born cricketer has failed to grasp his chances and has been out of form, off late.

What is Rinku Singh's recent record in T20I cricket?

Rinku Singh's recent form has been off the cliff. The 26-year-old has scored 62 runs on aggregate, in six innings since the T20 World Cup 2024. Being a part of all eight line-ups across the Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka series, Rinku did not bat on two occasions.

How has Rinku Singh performed in the T20I series against Sri Lanka?

Rinku Singh's miseries against Sri Lanka have not seen an end in this tour. The batter scored two runs in two innings, playing all three matches in the series. His shortcomings have hampered his confidence, as Rinku Singh looks completely out of touch, from his performances in the ongoing SL series.

What next for Rinku Singh?

Rinku Singh has been dropped from India's upcoming ODI series against Sri Lanka. This could also mean curtains to his hopes of playing for India at the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

That being said, Rinku would be hopeful of making a comeback to the Indian side for the three-match T20I series against Bangladesh. The Men in Blue are scheduled to take on the Bangla Tigers in the inaugural T20I on October 06, 2024.
