Rinku Singh has been a surprising omission from India's recently announced squad for the upcoming ICC T20I World Cup 2024. The Kolkata Knight Riders batter has been a revelation for Indian Cricket in the shortest format of the game.
The UP-born cricketer debuted in national colours in India's visit to Ireland in August last year. Ever since, Singh has been a mainstay in India's T20 setup. So much so, that Rinku was widely considered by fans and critics, as India's first name on the team sheet, come the T20I World Cup in June.
But not everything goes as per expectations, does it! IPL 2024 dented a chink into Rinku Singh's armour. KKR has handed Singh only limited opportunities to express himself on the pitch. The likes of Venkatesh Iyer have been used ahead of the 26-year-old.
As surprising and undeserving as it gets, Rinku Singh has failed to make it to the 15-man squad for the Indian Team at the ICC T20I World Cup. However, Singh is named in the list of reserves, alongside Shubman Gill, Avesh Khan, and Khaleel Ahmed.
