Rajasthan Royals (RR) created history by breaching the 200-mark for the first time at Jaipur's Sawai Mansingh Stadium in the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Thursday.

With Yashasvi Jaiswal setting the tone with a blistering 77, RR scored 202/5 in their 20 overs against Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

Sanju Samson won the toss and opted to bat first in what was their eighth IPL match this season. Jaiswal was quickly off the mark, as he scored three boundaries off Akash Singh in the very first over.

The batter continued his onslaught and completed his half-century in just 26 balls. He did not slow down after reaching the personal milestone and added another 27 runs before falling to Tushar Deshpande.

However, RR continued to score at a brisk rate with Dhruv Jurel and Devdutt Padikkal joining the party. In the 17th over, RR found themselves at 153/4 and it seemed that the 200-run mark would be far-fetched.

However, Jurel and Padikkal started firing on all cylinders and added 49 runs in the last three overs. The former scored a quickfire 34 off just 15 deliveries while the latter remained unbeaten at 27 off 13 balls to steer RR to a massive score of 202/5 in their 20 overs.

What did Yashasvi Jaiswal say about his innings?

Jaiswal has been in terrific form this IPL and it was his third fifty in eight matches. He has scored 304 runs so far at a scintillating strike rate of 147.57 and an average of 38.00.

"It is a really good total and we will try to defend it, I am sure we will give our best. I am enjoying it, keep playing shots and speak to the senior players on what I can do. Nothing much, we keep it simple, play proper cricketing shots and keep the tempo high (chat with Buttler). Whenever they bowled the knuckle ball it was gripping and not coming on but the new ball came onto the bat nicely," he stated.
