Pakistani fans were left shell-shocked after their team lost the all-important game against arch-rivals India from a winning position. Despite restricting the Indian team to just 119 runs in 19 overs, Pakistan seemed to be in a superior position considering the run-a-ball target.

India’s talismanic bowler, Jasprit Bumrah had different plans though as he ripped through the Pakistani batters, picking up three very important wickets and giving away just 14 runs in 4 overs. India eventually won the game by 6 runs, leaving Pakistan in a very difficult position with respect to the Super 8s qualification.

The South Asian, however, finally got ousted from the group stage after USA and Ireland's clash got called off due to rain.

What is Qudrat ka Nizam?

‘Qudrat ka Nizam’ is a phrase that was frequently used by Pakistani fans during major tournaments, which translates to ‘nature taking its course.’

Qudrat ka Nizam origins lie way back in 2022 though, when former cricketer Saqlain Mushtaq mentioned it in a press conference after a loss to England in a T20I game at home.

Day and night, summer and winter, rain and clouds…they keep going on. This is "qudrat ka nizam". Sports (cricket) is also like this. Win or loss will keep going on. So we should accept it - he said.

Initially, the fans were frustrated with Mushtaq’s seemingly baffling excuse for the loss, but it was later picked up as one of the unofficial slogans for Pakistani cricket team during the 2023 World Cup in India as Pakistan needed a number of results to go in their way in order to qualify for the semi-finals.

Although it failed last time around, and Pakistan failed to make it to the semis, they will be dependent on Qudrat ka Nizam once again in the final two group games in Group A of the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup.
