What did Praveen Kumar say about ball tampering?
Kumar was asked about his relationship with the Pakistan players and the rumours of ball tampering to induce reverse swing with the old ball back in the day. Here's what he said:
Everyone does a little bit; they (Pakistan bowlers) do it a bit more. That's what I've heard. Now, there are cameras everywhere. Earlier, all used to do it. And everyone knows as well. They would scratch it from one side, but one must know how to use that skill, too. If I scratch the ball and give to someone, one must have the skills to reverse-swing it. One has to learn that.
Praveen Kumar's career statistics
Kumar was once touted as India's next big thing as far as bowling was concerned. The Uttar Pradesh man made his debut for India at the age of 21 in an ODI against Pakistan.
He first shot to limelight on the international stage during the Commonwealth Bank Series in 2007-08 in Australia, where he picked 10 wickets in four games and was crucial in defeating the Aussies in the first two of the best-of-three finals.
Kumar played his final game for India in 2012 and was unfortunately never called up again.
