Prakhar Chaturvedi has etched his name in the history books by scoring a 400 in the U19 Cooch Behar Trophy final. Chaturvedi is a Bengaluru boy, who represents Karnataka at the domestic level. He hit an unbeaten 404-run knock as Karnataka beat Mumbai in the final to clinch the title.

Chaturvedi has hit the news after he broke the 24-year-old record of Yuvraj Singh. The Indian legend scored 358 runs in the final of the 1999 Cooch Behar trophy. This is the same knock that was depicted in the biopic of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. 

Overall, Prakhar Chaturvedi has gained the second spot in terms of the highest individual scores in the tournament. Vijay Zol scored an unbeaten 451 for Mumbai against Assam in the 2011 season. 

Who is Prakhar Chaturvedi?

Prakhar Chaturvedi was born in Karnataka to an academically rich family. He was born to Sanjay and Rupa Chaturvedi, who are both in the field of science. His father was a software engineer, who now runs his startup and his mother is a technical officer in the Defense Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).  

The player is currently pursuing BA in Economics from a college in Bangalore, after securing good grades in his class XII examination. Coming from an educated family, Prakhar has always given equal priorities to studies and cricket.

What is Prakhar Chaturvedi's bowling & and batting style?

Prakhar is a right-handed opening batsman. He has played age-group levels for Karnataka. However, the 18-year-old failed to get his seat in the U19 World Cup squad. His coach from the early days revealed how Prakhar initially failed to represent U-16 levels at Karnataka as well. He has represented U16 and U19 age-group levels for Karnataka.

Chaturvedi is primarily a batter. He gained limelight for his 404-run knock in the U19 Cooch Behar Final against Mumbai. Courtesy of Prakhar's knock, Karnataka won the trophy despite the match ending in a tie.

When did Prakhar Chaturvedi start his cricket coaching?

Prakhar began his cricket coaching in 2017, at the SIX academy in Bangalore at the age of 11. SIX Academy is an institution in the Padukone-Dravid Centre of Sports Excellence. Prakhar was a standout candidate of his batch, recalled his coach K. Jeshwant. 

Jeshwant has been a guiding light for Prakhar since 2017 and has kept him under tabs even till this day. Jeshwant revealed how difficult it was to convince the selectors to select Prakhar in the U-16 level for Karnataka.

How did Prakhar Chaturvedi perform in the U19 Cooch Behar Final?

Prakhar Chaturvedi hit an unbeaten knock of 404 runs in 638 deliveries in the U19 Cooch Behar trophy Final on Sunday. Chaturvedi hit 22 boundaries and three maximums, as Karnataka finished at 690-8. The match was declared as a draw as soon as Prakhar finished his quadruple century.
