India beat Bangladesh by eight wickets in the semi-final of the Asian Games 2023 women’s cricket tournament at the Zhejiang University of Technology Pingfeng Cricket Field in Hangzhou, China on Sunday to secure their berth in the gold-medal match.
Bangladesh won the toss and chose to bat first, but their decision didn't work in their favour. They faced early setbacks, losing both openers in the very first over, thanks to the bowling prowess of Pooja Vastrakar. By the end of the powerplay, Bangladesh was at a challenging 21/4 in six overs.

India managed to secure two run-outs in the eighth over, which included the dismissal of skipper, Nigar Sultana, that further derailed Bangladesh's innings.
Vastrakar returned in the 13th over and added to more scalps in her kitty to conclude her spell with impressive figures of 4/17 in four overs as Bangladesh were bowled out for a mere 51 runs in 17.5 overs, their lowest total against India in women’s T20 Internationals.
India's Smriti Mandhana departed early in the fourth over after scoring just seven runs which gave Bangladesh a gleamer of hope. However, they had put up too little on the board to defend as Shafali Verma (17 off 21 balls) and Jemimah Rodrigues (20* off 15 balls) guided the Women in Blue to victory.
