Bangladesh fast bowler Hasan Mahmud shocked the Indian batting with three early wickets in the first Test match at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk, Chennai.

The young right arm pacer took advantage of the overcast conditions at the ground after Bangladesh won the toss and put India to bat.

The Indian top order crumbled against his deceiving pace and movement claiming Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli as his victims in the morning.

Bangladesh fast bowler Hasan shared the opening spell with Taskin Ahmed who troubled Rohit Sharma right from the first over.

Shubman Gill, who came into bat at Number 3, did not look good in the middle as he was dismissed for an eight-ball duck, after nicking the ball off the leg side. Gill c Litton Das b Hasan Mahmud 0(8).

For his third wicket, Mahmud struck again and dismissed India's talisman batter Virat Kohli, finding the edge of another batter's bat. Kohli c Litton Das b Hasan Mahmud 6(6).

Hasan Mahmud finds praise from Harsha Bhogle and Ian Bishop

Indian commentator Harsha Bhogle was impressed with the Bangladesh pacer and called him a "Perfect bowler for these conditions"

"Very impressive from Hasan Mahmud. Perfect bowler for these conditions. Just the right pace and the ability to move it both ways. Interesting to see how long this spice lasts," he posted on X (formerly twitter).

Additionally, former West Indies fast bowler and star commentator Ian Bishop appreciated the youngster's control of his line and lengths in the opening session.
