2023 is an exciting year for cricket fans all over the globe. After the Indian Premier League (IPL) is over in May, the 16th edition of the Asia Cup will take place in September, followed by the One Day International World Cup in October.
However, there's much debate and discussion on where the Asia Cup will be held this year after the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) decided to move the competition out of Pakistan, following the Council's members rejecting the now-former host's hybrid model.

Pakistan had proposed the hybrid model since the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) prevented India from participating in the tournament due to political tensions between the two countries, however, the ACC has rejected it citing logistical reasons.
PCB chief: ‘If India wants a neutral venue for Asia Cup, we want same for World Cup’
Pakistan Cricket Board chief Najam Sethi in an interview with the Indian Express said that if Indian wants the Asia Cup to be held in a neutral venue for them, then the same should be done for Pakistan with regards to the 2023 World Cup which is to be hosted by India in October.
"If for one political reason or another, the BCCI is unable to come to Pakistan, especially when we are the hosts and all the other countries are ready to play in Pakistan, I think reciprocity demands that we say the same thing to India – ‘If you’re not going to come to Pakistan, we are not going to go to India’. That’s the way it is now.", stated Sethi
"The hybrid model is a perfect solution for the World Cup and the Champions Trophy. If India now wants to have a neutral venue and accepts the hybrid model, we’ll use the same hybrid model in the World Cup. Pakistan can play its World Cup matches in Dhaka or any other venue to which India agrees. Similarly in the Champions Trophy, all the other countries can come and play in Pakistan but India can play at a neutral venue. So this is a model that goes forward and resolves this political logjam."
