The two Asian giants and arch-rivals, India and Pakistan will be locking horns in the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup, as they clash against each other on Sunday, June 9 in New York. India won their opening game against Ireland comfortably while Pakistan will be playing their first game of the campaign against the hosts, USA.

This will be the eighth meeting between the two sides in the T20 World Cup, India hold the upper hand in the previous clashes with six wins to their name. It will also be the first time when the two sides will be facing each other on US soil.

Pakistan unhappy over the team’s accommodation
Ahead of the mammoth clash against India in a few days time and their first game of the campaign against the hosts USA, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman, Mohsin Naqvi raised questions over Pakistan’s accommodation for the tournament.
Pakistan were scheduled to stay in a hotel that is 90 minutes away from the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium where they will be facing India.
Naqvi insisted the ICC to change the team’s accommodation and also warned them that the PCB would relocate their team on their own expenses if ICC fails to comply with their requests.
How far are India staying from the New York stadium?
Naqvi also stressed on the point that the Indian team was staying just 10 minutes away from the venue, which was unfair to the Pakistanis.
Apart from Pakistan, other teams in South Africa and Sri Lanka also raised questions over their accommodations which were over an hour away from the stadium.

Did ICC change Pakistan's team hotel?
Following Naqvi’s displeasure over the whole issue, ICC took the step to relocate the Pakistan team who are now scheduled to stay at the venue which will be a five-minute drive from the Nassau County stadium.
Pakistan are set to depart to New York immediately after their opening clash of the tournament against USA. The two teams will be playing their game at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas on Thursday, June 6.
