In April, Pakistan took on a weakened New Zealand side in a five-match home T20I series which ended level at 2-2. There has been much discussion over the Pakistan squad, with many suggesting the final list of fifteen will largely comprise of those players who have been picked for the ongoing tour of Ireland and England.

Why has Pakistan not announced T20 World Cup team yet? Rashid Latif slams PCB for confused team selection

Pakistan faced off against Ireland in the first match of the series in Dublin on Friday. Batting first, they put up 182/6, but the second innings did not go to plan as the home side pulled off a famous victory by chasing the target down with one ball and five wickets to spare.

After the match, former Pakistan international Rashid Latif took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his thoughts on Pakistan's selection policy ahead of both this tour and the T20 World Cup.

Latif claimed that the selection of 26 different players for this tour meant that the selection committee was still experimenting, and was still not clear on what their best fifteen for the T20 World Cup is. During the press conference ahead of the Ireland tour, Wahab Riaz did mention that Pakistan planned to announce the squad after their match against England on May 21.

Out of the 20 participating teams at the global tournament which is set to get underway on June 2, 17 have already announced their squads (they are allowed to make changes until May 25). Apart from Pakistan, only Bangladesh and Netherlands have not yet released their list of fifteen as yet.
