Pakistan registered a 142-run win over Afghanistan despite being bowled out for just 201 in their first ODI at Hambantota on Tuesday. 

Afghanistan had a promising start as their spin trio Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi troubled Pakistan batsmen and picked up seven wickets among them.

But their joy was short-lived as they were bundled out for just 59 with Haris Rauf picking up a fifer for just 18 runs. He was perfectly complemented by pace star Shaheen Afridi who picked up two wickets in two balls to rattle the Aghan batting lineup in the third over. 

Apart from Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Azmatulah Omarzai, no other batsman could reach double figures with Rashid Khan getting bowled before he could open his account. 

Afghanistan were bowled out for just 59 in less than 20 overs which is their second-lowest ODI total and is the lowest total by any team in ODI against Pakistan.

A record after 37 years - What are the top five lowest totals against Pakistan? 

Pakistan bowled out New Zealand for 64 back in 1986. Till today, that was the lowest score against the Men in Green by a team.

However, on Tuesday (August 22, 2024) a new record was created as Afghanistan got wrapped up for 59.
