Pakistan were left shocked after a ten-wicket defeat to Bangladesh at home in the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Sunday. Moreover, it was also a huge blow to their hopes of reaching the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 final.

For the Bangla Tigers, it was their first-ever Test win against Pakistan. The defeat on Sunday would need Pakistan at least six wins from the seven matches in the ongoing WTC cycle, to even stand a chance to play in the final.

That is not it, as Pakistan have also scripted an unwanted record with the historic defeat to the Asian minnows.

What record did Pakistan script with Bangladesh defeat on Sunday?

Pakistan, alongside Zimbabwe, are the only team without a Test match win at home, in the last 36 months. They have failed to win a single game in their last nine attempts, in a record that dates back to August 2021.

No wonder Pakistan find themselves seventh on the WTC 2023-25 points table. They also finished seventh in the WTC 2021-23 points table, with four wins and six losses in 14 Tests.

Courtesy of this defeat, Paksitan are now gone 1312 days without a Test win at home.

How did Rashid Latif react to Pakistan's defeat to Bangladesh?

Former Pakistan captain, Rashid Latif was quite critical on Pakistan's performance in the recent Test defeat against Bangladesh. It was the first time that a Pakistan side suffered a defeat against the Asian minnows.

"You fielded an all-pace attack. Then you lost the toss, and you had to bowl first. Things did not go the way you had expected. In cricket, you should not take things for granted," Latif said on a chat show.

"You had to select at least one wrist-spinner, considering different scenarios. You did not even bring a spinner to your squad. All you thought, was that you will win the toss and get Bangladesh to bat first," Latif added.

"You have not analysed your opponent thoroughly. You do not know about Bangladesh's Test team, not even about Shakib Al Hasan or Mushfiqur Rahim. They said, 'Come, we will show you what we are," Latif mocked Pakistan's lack of awareness.

Latif admitted that the Test cricket levels in Pakistan have dropped massively. The team could compete well in white-ball tournaments, but they are a low-grade Test team, at most.
