The loss meant that India now face an uphill battle to win the series. After posting a modest 152, the team saw West Indies chase down the target with seven balls to spare.

How did Indian batters play in the second T20I against West Indies?

Batting first, India got off to a slow start, losing Shubman Gill and Suryakumar Yadav in quick succession inside the first four overs.

Tilak Varma scored an attractive 51 in his second international match but received limited support. Ishan Kishan stuck around to make 27 and Hardik Pandya scored a brisk 24 but in addition to Gill and Suryakumar, Sanju Samson and Axar Patel failed to make an impression.

Much has been made of the long Indian tail in T20Is, with light-hearted suggestions that India are playing with four No. 11s.

'Not a pleasing batting performance' - Hardik Pandya

As reported by the Indian Express, Indian captain Hardik Pandya was frank in his assessment of the performance.

“If am being honest that was a not a pleasing batting performance, we could have batted better. 160+ or 170 would have been a good total."

“With the current combination we have we will have to trust out top 7 batters to come good and hope the bowlers win you games. We have to find ways to make sure we have the right balance but at the same time batters need to take more responsibility."

What next for Team India?

India will be hoping to prevent the West Indies from achieving a series-sealing victory in the 3rd T20I, which will take place in Guyana on 8 August.
