Former Pakistan international Tanvir Ahmed made a bold claim on the current set of Indian youngsters. The Indian cricket team is going through a period of transition, with the retirements of stalwarts Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma from the T20I format.

The likes of Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant are considered as the spine of India's future batting lineups by the BCCI as a part of the new-look Indian setup. Even the likes of Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul, who were picked after a sabbatical, failed to stamp their authority in the ODI series against Sri Lanka.

A lot of questions were raised after the youngsters failed to perform in the recent three-match ODI series. As team India prepares for life after Rohit and Virat, Tanvir Ahmed has slammed the quality of these Indian youngsters. He made a bold claim on the current set of Indian youngsters, placing them on below par to the two Indian stalwarts.

What did Tanvir Ahmed say about the quality of young Indian players?

Former Pakistan speedster Tanvir Ahmed has predicted a harsh time for Indian cricket in the future, specially after the retirement of Rohit and Virat. The duo have been the torchbearers of India's batting line-up for over a decade, and their retirements could hurt the Men in Blue, Ahmed believes.

He stated that the current Indian youngsters would fail to bat in overseas conditions, where the pitches would not be curated in their favour. In all fairness, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Shubman Gill, and Rishabh Pant, all failed to set fireworks in the recent ODI series defeat against Sri Lanka.

All the new batters in this Indian team at the moment, barring Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, they cannot carry forward this batting line-up in the future, Tanvir Ahmed stated via Cricket Pakistan.

They might score runs in their home conditions on flat pitches but on pitches where the ball turns seams and swings this batting lineup of India does not have the life to bat in those conditions, the 45-year-old added.
