"No greater finisher" - Gautam Gambhir hails "chase master" Virat Kohli after World Cup classic against NZ image

Virat Kohli helped India chase down yet another target at the ongoing 2023 ICC ODI World Cup. The 34-year-old has been on song at the World Cup, and has been proving his critics wrong. 

Gautam Gambhir, who has had infamous tussles with Kohli over the years, spoke of him in high regard as India chased down 274 against New Zealand in Dharamshala.

Gambhir might have had intense moments with Kohli in the past, but not on Sunday.

Virat Kohli scored a marvellous 104-ball 95, as India negotiated a tricky target of 274 against New Zealand. India were in a spot of bother at 191-5. Ravindra Jadeja was the only recognised batsman left, with Virat Kohli standing tall at the crease. Jadeja played a terrific knock of 39 runs, guiding India to victory, alongside Virat Kohli. 

What did Gambhir say about Virat Kohli?

Gautam Gambhir spoke of Virat Kohli in high regard after yet another successful run-chase by Team India at the ongoing ODI World Cup. Virat had guided India to victory against Bangladesh and Afghanistan, staying at the crease until the end.

Gautam Gambhir hailed chase master Virat Kohli as a finisher who is second to none. He went on to explain that mastering the art of run chases is an important aspect of any batsman's game.

"There is no better finisher than Virat Kohli. A finisher is not only those who bat at No.5 or No.7 - he is a chase master", said Gambhir.

Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli - No more foes?

Gautam Gambhir has been critical of star Indian batsman Virat Kohli on multiple occasions in the past. Most recently, Gautam Gambhir responded to fans chanting Virat Kohli's name with a controversial sign. 

The duo even clashed during the IPL 2023 after the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Lucknow Super Giants in Bangalore. ICYMI, Gautam Gambhir served as the mentor of the Lucknow Super Giants at IPL 2023.
