Many have speculated that the loss to RCB could be the end of the glorious career of former Indian and CSK skipper, MS Dhoni.

Contrary to the belief though, some former Indian cricketers and close acquaintances to Dhoni believe that it is not over yet and that we could see 'Thala' stepping on the playing field in the yellow outfit once again next season.

What did Robin Uthappa say about MS Dhoni's potential retirement?

Former Indian batter, Robin Uthappa believes that Dhoni will be back for the 2025 IPL season. With 17 required in the final over, Dhoni smashed the first ball out of the ground for a massive six, but lost his wicket on the very next ball with CSK going on tot lose the qualifying spot by 9 runs.

Talking to JioCinema, Uthappa said "I don't think we have seen the last of MS. He is not someone who takes these things lightly. He will come back roaring for sure."

"Even with the narrative, I have seen him bat only in the last 4 or 5 overs, there is a reason for it," he added.

"He had a calf injury which they initially thought perhaps was a niggle, but it was a little more grave than that. Because of that, he had to manage himself and often has he does, in international cricket and for CSK, he figured out a way to be useful and contribute to CSK."

Apart from Uthappa, former CSK star, Suresh Raina also hinted that he will play for CSK next season. “Ruturaj Gaikwad needs more time to mature, so MS Dhoni should play one more season,” Raina said.

Earlier during the IPL when asked by former Indian bowler, RP Singh if we could see Dhoni continue playing, Raina replied in single word, stating “Khelenge (will play)”

Former CSK player and Australian legend, Michael Hussey has urged Dhoni to stay and keep playing for a few more years before he finally hangs up his boots. Talking on a podcast with Around the Cricket, Hussey stated,

"Your guess is as good as mine at this stage. He keeps his cards very, very close to his chest. We are hoping that he does keep going."
