Team India lost their second ODI match against Sri Lanka by 32 runs at Colombo, on Sunday, August 4, as they failed to chase a target of 241 in the 50 overs.

India were bowled out for 208 runs following a stunning batting collapse, courtesy of a 6/33 spell by the leg spinner Jeffrey Vandersay, as the hosts Sri Lanka took a 1-0 lead in the series.

Despite the loss, fans were in awe and impressed with the confidence of Mohammed Siraj, who came in to bat at Number ten when India were struggling at 190/8, after Washington Sundar's dismissal.

Mohammed Siraj's Viv Richards swag-like batting style against Sri Lanka

Mohammed Siraj batting at Number 10, scored just 4 runs off 18 balls, however, fans took notice and rejoiced seeing his confidence even as India were headed to a sure defeat.

Siraj, who is not known for his batting took a batting stance with confidence. He popped his collard up, took a pose like he was the greatest batter ever, while scanning the fielders around the ground, as many sarcastically compared him to the West Indies great Sir Vivian Richards.

For a moment, it would not have been wrong to mistake Siraj for his India teammate and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) colleague, Virat Kohli, who is considered one of the modern greats of the game.

"India can develop him into a valuable all-rounder", said one X (formerly twitter) user, look at his batting technique, calling it "solid defense and straight bat with confidence".

Siraj has also been seen working hard on his batting in the nets during the last ODI World Cup 2023 in India, as the need for batting depth becomes crucial, particularly in the bigger tournaments.

India will take on Sri Lanka in the third and final ODI of the tour on Wednesday, August 7, at Colombo, where they will look to equalise and draw the series.
